The Highway Code is the set of rules governing the use of public roads. It applies to different users:

- Drivers of all types of vehicles
- People with pets
It’s important to note that vehicles running on rails are not subject to these general regulations. Nevertheless, they must comply with two essential elements: the instructions given by qualified staff, and light signals.

In all these areas, serious offences such as hit-and-run, drink-driving, failure to comply with blood alcohol limits or lack of insurance are punishable.
